Latino Student Health Project

Mission: Our mission is to reduce the risk of chronic diseases and promote health awareness within medically underserved communities.

Throughout the academic year LSHP hosts two health fairs every quarter (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer) or approximately every 3 months. We host our first health fair within the Los Angeles community and the other in the Tecate community. During these health fairs, we typically provide health services such as screenings for BMI, hypertension, anemia, glucose, cholesterol, mammography and more. We always have a team of medical professionals and enthusiastic undergraduate volunteers to help facilitate the event. We are continually trying to improve our health fairs with other health services and we hope to continue serving the communities of Los Angeles and Tecate. In the past, we have worked in the Los Angeles communities of Hawthorne, Westlake, Pasadena, and Pacoima. Additionally, we have worked with the communities of Tecate and Cerro Azul which are within Baja California, Mexico.
